About Ginny

My yogic journey

I have been practicing yoga for the last eight years. After just a few months of practice I began to observe positive changes on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. It was at this point I knew that I wanted to learn more about this ancient system and to be able to share this with others.
Viniyoga was the discipline I initially followed before moving to Brighton and discovering Astanga Vinyasa yoga, which I have continued practicing ever since whilst also respecting and maintaining an interest in other traditions. I am fortunate enough to have enjoyed the tutelage of experienced teachers in the Astanga Vinyasa field, whom themselves have studied with senior practitioners including Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of the Astanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India.

In 2003 I completed the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation course, which provided a basic introduction to yoga asana (in the Viniyoga tradition), pranayama, meditation and philosophy. After concentrating on deepening my own practice for the next few years, I then travelled to India to attend the Astanga Vinyasa teacher training programme at Brahmani Yoga in Goa. My qualification is registered with the Yoga Alliance at 200 hours.

I demonstrate a fresh and enthusiastic approach with my students, aiming to offer an open and friendly environment in which they can explore their practice under clear guidance. A particular interest of mine is teaching yoga to children. This has lead me to enrol on my next training course later this year with Yoga Bananas.
My goal is to continue studying and evolving in my own practice; broadening my knowledge and experience to pass on to those I teach, inspiring them to lead a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.
